3 Steps You Can Take to Protect Your Skin This Winter

Here on the upper East Coast, winter is hard on the skin. Without the right preventative maintenance, it gets dry and itchy. Don’t let your skin take on a dull, flaky look. There are a few simple things you can do to keep your skin moist and smooth during the rough winter months.

  1. Drink a lot of water - Water is the best thing for your skin. Drink plenty of water and your skin will glow!
  2. Use an oil rich moisturizer - Avocado oil, shea butter and olive oil based moisturizer will sooth and moisturize skin and continue to offer protection throughout the day.
  3. Don’t get too extreme - Avoid water and temperatures that are too hot or too cold. Both will dry your skin. Take warm baths and showers and wash hands and dishes in warm water.

Here’s an extra couple of tips. Before venturing into the outdoors, protect your face with a a high SPF moisturizer. Wear a lip balm or lipstick to protect your lips and if you’re going to be out for a prolonged amount of time, cover your face with a scarf for extra-added protection.

It really doesn’t take a lot to achieve soft skin. You just have to be willing to take a few extra steps!
