3 Tips to Prevent Your Pantyhose from Running
The best part about working from home is not having to dress for corporate America. The best part of that is not having to wear stockings every day. I’m one of those people who can’t wear pantyhose once without getting a run. If you’re the same way, you might appreciate these tips:
- Keep a bottle of clear nail polish in your purse - The oldie but goodie, tried and true method of keeping the runs in your stockings progressing to the point of embarrassment. Simply dab onto the offending area and you nipped that bad boy in the bud. Careful taking your stockings off at night though. Sometimes after the nail polish hardens the stocking sticks to your skin and can hurt when you pull it off.
- Hand wash -If you wash your stockings by hand the fibers won’t weaken as much as if you laundered it in the washing machine.
- Spray with hair spray before putting them on - I never tried this before but I know of a couple of people who spray their stockings with hairspray before putting them on. They claim the stiff fibers don’t run. If you try this, let us know how it works.

The best suggestion I have is to buy the right brand! I used to buy the cheapest pairs because they all seem to get runs anyway. (I have long nails.)
BUT I have owned one pair of pantyhose for three years now. I have worn them many times–and sometimes I even through them in the wash! (and dryer!) They’re from Wolford and they cost $40, but as you can see the purchase was worth it.

Great way to keep your pantyhose or nylon stockings from running, thank you!
I also know a shop, that repairs nylons for free, if you have bought them there.

I tried the hair spray because my mom had told me it worked. Well, it does work to a point, it does make them feel stiffer, which is not very comfortable. I did still get a run, because I was have very nails.
