5 Prom Hairstyle Tips
Spring means prom for older teens. During this time of the year many 16 through 18 year olds are shopping for dresses and looking at hairstyle books in hopes of looking their very best. The problem is, many times the hair doesn’t like the same after exiting the prom and heading for the after party. What follows are some prom hairstyle tips.
1. When choosing a hairstyle keep in mind you’ll be dancing. Whether you’ll be dancing fast and furious or slow dancing with your date, you’ll want your hairstyle to withstand this. Long hairstyles don’t fall apart as easily, but you may be hot after dancing. Updos keep your neck cool, but can fall by the end of the evening. Talk with your stylist about the staying power of several different hairstyles and choose the one that not only looks best for you, but also has staying power.
2. It doesn’t hurt to carry a bit of product with you. Buy a purse size spray for “just in case.”
3. Those with longer hair might want to carry a decorative, fancy barrette. In case your style falls out, you can pull your hair back with a pearled or rhinestone accessory.
4. Be realistic. If you have very thick hair and your hair doesn’t cooperate, there’s a good chance of it not holding its style. Choose a style that’s true to your hair type.
5. Don’t be afraid to try accessories. Barrettes, tiaras, hairbands, combs, flowers and more all come in elegant, formal styles. Using one might compliment your look more than a necklace.
