6 Nail Care Tips

It’s amazing how a nice manicure can make one feel good about one’s self, isn’t it? Taking time to pamper ourselves really does something for the disposition. If you’re going to be giving yourself a manicure sometime soon, you might be interested in these nail care tips:

  1. Wash hands in lukewarm water. Cold or hot are too drying.
  2. Use a brush with gentle bristles to get out and dirt from under your nails.
  3. Nails are best filed after a shower or good soaking as the water makes them soft and easier to shape.
  4. Push back cuticles with the proper tool, but don’t clip as that’s just asking for infection.
  5. Two coats of polish are ideal, more than that can cause "gumminess."
  6. Always give your nails at least 30 minutes to dry. Though they may feel dry in 10 to 15 minutes, they’re really not.

Waiting for my nails to dry is something that I’m having problems with. Too impatient. Heh. You’re right, they may seem dry after 10-15 minutes, which already is a long wait for me, so I often end up ruining them. Sigh.

    Thanks for the tips! :)

I use a hair dryer on low to help the drying process and it seems to work great. After I use the hair dryer, I run them under cold water and dry.
